Inhalt | The accelerating determination ion of genome sequences and their interpretation with genomics tools has brought with iit many challenges. One of them is the determination of the stucture, function and expression of all of the corresponding proteins that are encoded therein. Substancial amounts of every genome examined to date, including the draft of the human genome, reveal protein sequences for witch there are no structural or functional correlates and therefore represent fundamentally unknown entities. Proteomics aims at understanding of how the structure and function of these proteins and their post ribosomal modificationscontribute to life processes. This class addresses potential applications of proteomics to the finding of new drugs. |
