| Inhalt | The current moment – Corona Pandemic combined with global uprisings and state responses to both – demands us feminists around the world to stand in solidarity. To do so, we must take the time to think together across regions and other “borders” in order to understand more fully the current conditions and political situations in various regions – including gender, race/ethnicity, class/caste, indigeneity, and sexuality, for example – and in more nuanced ways; to imagine feminist futures that will be able to secure livelihoods, sustain the natural environment and ensure the dignity and wellbeing of all living beings; to produce knowledge to generate agency and to organize transnationally as feminist activist scholars. We recognize that neo-liberal capitalism, Right-Wing populism and nationalism, religious fundamentalisms and hatred toward certain religions, militarism, colonialism, and imperialism form the foundations of the world in which we exist. Through and from these, region-specific forms of patriarchy and male dominance, anti-Blackness and other forms of racism, ethnocentrism, class, and caste, heterosexism and trans-phobia, ecological violence, and other life-destroying, intertwined forces are made manifest. The overarching purposes of the series is to understand more fully this moment, to explore responsibilities and accountabilities of activist/scholars based primarily in the Global North. Margo Okazawa-Rey is Professor Emerita of the San Francisco State University. Dr. Okazawa-Rey’s primary areas of research and activism are gender, anti-militarism and feminist activist research. She sits on the international boards of the NGOs PeaceWomen across the Globe (Bern, Switzerland) and Durebang (두레방, My Sister’s Place/ Uijongbu, South Korea). She was a founding member of the Combahee River Collective, who articulated a theory of intersectionality in “A Black Feminist Statement”. |
