Content | This course exposes students to schools of thought and concrete interventions that redefine understandings of urban lifeworlds in the twenty-first century. The lecture series will explore the dynamics that shape cities and how cities in turn impact the course of locally situated and global phenomena. Guest lecturers hale from a range of disciplines and fields in the social sciences including urban and regional planning, geography, political theory, art and activism, and architectural research. The guest lecturers for Fall 2020 will be confirmed in early September. |
Learning objectives | - An understanding of contemporary debates and approaches in urban studies - An ability to engage with urban experts in various fields, drawing out the implications of different disciplinary approaches to the urban - An ability to situate urban research in the cultural, social, political, and historical contexts of its production |
Comments | ***Important note**** Due to Corona measurements and health and safety reasons - This Kolloquium is on a first serve basis with Master Students of Critical Urbanisms being prioritised over students from other subject areas.
