Content | The lecture contains the basics of polymer chemistry and starts with the basic principles of polymer chemistry. In the synthetic part the majority of currently applied to synthetic methods to gain polymerisates, polycondensates and polyadducts will be covered to allow the students to get an overview on the options available in polymer chemistry. Since determining the molar mass of a polymer is a crucial and critical step, it will be covered in details. Polymers are often combined with one another making branched and linear plain and block-copolymers an important piece of current polymer science are thus part of the course. In order to give the students an overview on how and where polymers are applied nowadays, high-throughput materials as well as specialised high performance polymers will be discussed. |
Learning objectives | Understanding the principles of polymer chemistry Mechanism of polymerisation reactions Mechanism polycondensations and polyadditions Molar masses and determination Synthesis and applications of block-copolymers Structure and applications of high-perfomance polymers Synthesis and characterization of polymer networks |
