Learning objectives | In this course, students will learn that eHealth plays a major role in health care and its impact is growing over the next decade. The course is based on the premise that eHealth is not only a technological development but also a way of thinking innovatively in order to leverage technology to optimize health outcomes. Upon completion of the course students will be able to: 1. Explain current and evolving definitions and theories of eHealth and relevant related terminology. 2. Recognize the potential of eHealth innovations for redesigning and reconfiguring processes to enhance health care. 3. Describe how aggregated data may be collected and used to support decision-making in practice, the management of health services and public health. 4. Identify how selected theories of behavior and human factors (i.e., human computer interaction) influence technology acceptance and adoption. 5. Identify the role of eHealth in promoting the role of patients in health care (e.g., self-management applications, remote monitoring, electronic communications). 6. Understand eHealth policies within a local, national and international context. 7. Critically appraise the benefits, drawbacks and potential barriers to the implementation and adoption of eHealth. |
