Course frequency | Every spring sem. |
Lecturers | Beat Hintermann (b.hintermann@unibas.ch, Assessor) |
Content | In this master seminar, students focus on a specific topic in public economics and write a short research paper. The suggested topics typically involve the replication and extension of existing papers, but students are free to propose their own research idea. The goal of the seminar is to expose students to economic research on an advanced level. This includes formulating a research question (for example, which parts of the paper should be replicated and why, and what extensions could be proposed), carrying out an analysis, presenting the results, and summarizing the research in a seminar paper. The skills acquired in the context of the seminar will be useful in the context of writing the master thesis, as well as in students’ subsequent careers. |
