Learning objectives | Students know basic descriptive statistical methods. They understand fundamental concepts of inferential statistics and know basic analytic tools, including linear regression modelling and one-way ANOVA. They also know the principles of experimental design. |
Bibliography | Book: Kirkwood, B. R.; Sterne, J. A. C.: Essential Medical Statistics, 2nd edition. Blackwell Science (501Seiten) 2003. |
Comments | The course will be based on lecture notes. The statistics program JMP, which can be purchased via the home page of the IT-Services of the University of Basel, will be used from the third course week on. Students can also use the web platform BOMS (Basics of Medical Statistics) to do some interactive exercises. In addition to the official lectures, there will be exercise sessions. Film and sound recordings during the course are strictly forbidden (recorders may be confiscated) |
