Content In this seminar, we present and critically discuss current peer-reviewed publications in the area of pharmacoepidemiology / drug safety. Publications focus on clinical (pharmaceutical) and methodologic (study design and statistics) research aspects. Students will improve ability to critically read and understand pharmacoepidemiologic literature and to translate results into clinical practice. This seminar provides a platform to discuss research findings among peers and colleagues.
Learning objectives Students will improve their ability to critically read and understand pharmacoepidemiologic literature and to translate results into clinical practice. Furthermore, students can improve their presentation skills.
Organisation:
• PhD students (or researchers) prepare a 30-minute presentation summarizing the publication and highlighting points of discussion. Guidance during preparation is provided.
• The publication will then be discussed in plenary.
• Publications are suggested by the seminar lead in consultation with regular seminar participants and focus on clinical and methodologic research aspects.

 

Admission requirements The seminar is open to anyone. It is specifically aimed at PhD students, postdocs, and researchers in the area of (pharmaco-) epidemiology and database research. Basic knowledge of epidemiological concepts are required and will not be explained during the seminar.
