Content | The behavioral sciences, such as psychology and economics, have developed a number of tech-niques to gain insights from empirical evidence to help both single individuals, groups, and policy makers make better decisions in disparate domains, including management, marketing, and health-care. The lecture will provide a general introduction to evidence-based decision making, including some of the techniques that have emerged in the past years to help decision makers make informed choices. The lecture will cover such topics as the formalization of judgments and decisions of clinicians and managers using algorithms, the use of experimental and natural experiments to infer the causal power of behavior-change interventions, and the emergence of meta-analyses as sources of informed decisions to policy makers. The theoretical principles and examples will be illustrated with a series of hands-on tutorials to facilitate understanding as well as the application of the techniques in real-world settings. |
