58576-01 - Seminar: Co-Producing Knowledge in Transdisciplinary Research Projects 3 CP

Semester fall semester 2020
Course frequency Once only
Lecturers Alexandra Hofmänner (alexandra.hofmaenner@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content Does your MA or PhD project involve partners outside of academia? Are you using concepts and theories that lie at the intersection of academic fields of study? Have you started consulting literature on transdisciplinarity for guidance on how to address the challenges involved in such research projects?
Many contemporary problems cannot be solved by applying disciplinary research approaches alone but require integrating knowledge from different disciplines. While the notions of inter- and transdisciplinary research are frequently spoken about, their application to specific projects remains a challenge.
This course introduces master and graduate students to the practice, terminology, concepts and methods of transdisciplinary research. Students will be invited to present their research project and to consider options for transdisciplinary research. They will acquire skills to navigate the available resources on transdisciplinary research.
Learning objectives The course equips master and graduate students with conceptual and methodological knowledge on transdisciplinary research.
