52354-01 - Lecture: Smart Contracts and Decentralized Blockchain Applications 3 CP

Content The lecture provides an overview of Blockchain based applications and smart contract platforms. In addition to theory blocks, there will be practical workshops, where, the students learn how to development and implement their own smart contracts and decentralized applications on a Blockchain.
Learning objectives 1. The students understand the concept, incentives and technology behind Blockchain, Smart Contracts,
DAPPs and DAOs.
2. The students are able to read and develop simple Smart Contracts.
3. The students can create their own tokens and study various tokenomics models.
4. The students set up their own Blockchain.
5. The students learn how to perform simple security analyses and identify weaknesses in a smart contract.

Comments • Video On-Demand
The main part of the lecture will be provided in a video on-demand format. This allows you to watch the videos at any time that best suits your personal schedule.

Depending on the question, I will either reply by email or schedule a zoom meeting. If the question is relevant for other students, I may include it in a Q&A video.

• Evaluation
The evaluation will be a mix of a final exam and a group project. You’ll get all the information you need in the first video. If possible, the final exam will be on-site.

• Presentation
The only live lecture you have to mark in your calendar is on December 3rd, 14:15 - 18:00. During this lecture you will present your group projects. We will most likely use zoom for this session, but more on this later.

Admission requirements No prior programming experience required.
Course application Registration: Please enrol in MOnA. EUCOR-Students and students of other Swiss Universities have to enrol at the students administration office (studseksupport1@unibas.ch) within the official enrolment period. Enrolment = Registration for the exam!

written exam: 13.01.22; 09:30-11:00. The exam will take place at Congresscenter Basel (together with 23346 Statistics). You will receive detailed information about the procedure and admission to the exam hall about one week before the exam.
In case COVID-19 protective measures prevent examination on site, the faculty reserves the right to conduct the examination electronically during the same time slot.
You can still withdraw from the examination by submitting a completed, signed form to our office from 19.10.21 until 29.10.21 / 12:00 o’clock. Please send your form by mail to belegungstorno-wwz@unibas.ch. You will find the examination withdrawal form on the Homepage of the Student Dean’s Office.
Prior to 18.10.21, please only use MONA for withdrawing.
