Content The aim of this one-day scientific conference is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences on topical issues that foster Uganda’s national development. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn more about how these issues manifest in the Ugandan context and how scientists and policy makers engage with and attempt to adapt to evolving challenges.

Topics include: Traditional vs context-specific concepts of health, strategic health policy into practice through Uganda’s One Health Concept, new tools and technology to improve health, the impact of air pollution in Uganda, defining a healthy economy, and recovery and resilience in post-pandemic Uganda.

The online event is hosted by the Uganda National Academy of Sciences and speakers represent various institutions, including the Global Social Impact Practice, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the African Center for Global Health and Social Transformation, Uganda’s National Environment Management Authority, the Economic Policy Research
Center, and Makerere University.
Learning objectives Students will
- be sensitized to contemporary health and economic issues in Uganda;
- be exposed to the complexity of health systems, economic development, and post-
pandemic challenges in an emerging market context, and
- have explored how regional and international institutions conceptualize health and
economic issues in an attempt to identify sustainable solutions for Uganda’s future.
