64379-01 - Seminar: Methods in Peace and Conflict Research 3 CP

Content After a brief introduction into the field of peace research, the seminar provides an overview of the most relevant research methods and of the specificities (including ethics, conflict sensitivity, and security), which apply to these methods when doing research on issues of peace and conflict. All cases reviewed belong to the field of peace and conflict studies in oder to familiarize the participants with relevant research processes. The participants compare and discuss different approaches based on selected case studies.
Learning objectives The participants are familiar with the most important methods of peace research, they are aware of specific methodological challenges when doing field research on issues of peace and conflict, they know how to chose the methodological approach best suited to their research questions and to their research context
Bibliography Will be made available in the workspace upon beginning of the seminar
Comments Attention:
All Seminars will be graded in the Department of Political Science.
Grading scale 6.0 to 1.0, whereupon 4.0 is a pass.
The number of participants will be limited. The places are assigned according to date of enrollment and subject of study. Priority will be given to students of Political Science.
