Content Week 1: Reproductive endocrine functions in the male
Week 2: Reproductive endocrine functions in the female
Week 3: Early embryology. Endocrinology of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Week 4: Embryogenesis and sexual differentiation.
Week 5: In vitro systems and animal models. Regulatory requirements.
Week 6: Detoxifying role of the placenta in pregnancy. Examples of toxicology in human reproduction.
Week 7: Exam
Learning objectives to understand the basic endocrine pathways in the regulation of reproduction in the female and in the male
to understand the endocrine pathways in pregnancy
to be able to outline embryogenesis and sexual differentiation
to understand potential toxic effects of a number of compounds in reproductive toxicology and its mechanisms of action in the gonads, in the embryo & the placenta and during lactation
to be able to describe the evaluation systems in use in reproductive toxicology
