Content | In the seminar ‘Management Accounting’ we treat current problems in the fields of managerial and financial accounting research. Possible research questions can concern topics such as transfer pricing, management incentive systems and financial and management reporting. The students independently deal with a problem from within the named topics. This entails a written paper as well as its oral presentation and defense. The students will have to work on assignments of a conceptual as well as of an empirical nature. |
Learning objectives | Completion of this course will enable the students - to contextualize literature contributions in the fields of managerial accounting and financial accounting - to assess and evaluate diverse research designs - to identify problems in the Accounting context and to develop adequate solution methods |

Admission requirements | The seminar places are allocated on the basis of the availability of seminar places for the various master’s programs. The following criteria then apply: Criterion 1: Number of credit points already acquired in the Master in Business and Technology (MBT), Master in Finance and Money (MFM) or in the major Finance, Controlling and Banking of the Master in Business and Economics (MBE), Criterion 2: Average grade of the courses in the Master MBT, MFM or in the major Finance, Controlling and Banking of the MBE The other generally applicable allocation criteria can be found here: https://wwz.unibas.ch/de/studium/master/masterseminare/ |
Course application | The application for this seminar is done centrally and online until January 9, 2023 with the Studiendekanat.
