Content In this doctoral school, participants with a solid working knowledge in Conversation Analysis will be introduced to the study of action ascription in social interaction. Action ascription concerns issues of understanding and responding to actions in social interaction and the accomplishment of intersubjectivity concerning action meanings.
The seminar will address the following topics: The notion of action; primary and secondary actions; action formationvs. Ascription; methodological grounds of action ascription; difficult cases of action ascription; collection-based approaches to action ascription; action ascription and embodied conduct.
The seminar will with English and German data (with English translations). The working language will be English.
