52354-01 - Lecture: Smart Contracts and Decentralized Finance 6 CP

Content The lecture provides an overview of Blockchain based applications and smart contract platforms. In addition to theory blocks, there will be practical workshops, where, the students learn how to development and implement their own smart contracts and decentralized applications on a Blockchain. There will be a particular focus on Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and students get a chance to analyze tokens and smart contract-based protocols.
Learning objectives 1. The students understand the concept, incentives and technology behind Blockchain, Smart Contracts,
DAPPs and DAOs.
2. The students are able to read and develop simple Smart Contracts.
3. The students can create their own tokens and study various tokenomics models.
4. The students set up their own Blockchain test network.
5. The students understand various Decentralized Finance (DeFi) protocols and learn about important ecosystem characteristics, such as composability.

Comments • Video On-Demand
The main part of the lecture will be provided in a video on-demand format. This allows you to watch the videos at any time that best suits your personal schedule.

Depending on the question, I will either reply by email or schedule a zoom meeting. If the question is relevant for other students, I may include it in a Q&A video.

• Evaluation
The evaluation will be a mix of a final exam and a group project. You’ll get all the information during the kickoff event. If possible, the final exam will be on-site.

• Presentation
Towards the end of the class, there will be a seminar, where you get a chance to present your student projects. This will count towards your final grade (40%).
