53982-01 - Colloquium: Presentation of Results of MSD Master’s Thesis 1 CP

Content Within the study program of MSD 2017, students have to register 3 times in a 'master's thesis colloquium'.
This colloquium is the third and last one (= colloquium C). The participants present the results of their master's theses. They prepare their presentations in a way that is accessible to an interdisciplinary audience, focus on the relation of their research questions to sustainable development and the fit between these questions and the results of their theses.
Learning objectives The students learn
- to present research questions and a research results to an interdisciplinary audience;
- to place their research questions in an appropriate sustainability context;
- to discuss research questions and results from other disciplines;
- to provide constructive feedback to their fellow students.
Comments Schedule fall semester 2023:
Meeting 1: 29.09.23: starts at 14.15h (duration depends on the number of presentations).
Meeting 2: 10.11.23: starts at 14.15h (duration depends on the number of presentations).
Meeting 3: 08.12.23: starts at 14.15h (duration depends on the number of presentations, only presentations of results).
Meeting 4: 15.12.23: starts at 14.15h (duration depends on the number of presentations, only presentations of concepts).
Meeting 5: 22.12.23: starts at 14.15h (only if necessary; duration depends on the number of presentations): cancelled.

Details regarding duration of each meeting are published with the program usually sent out around 10 days before the colloquia take place. Only students who are abroad during the semester e.g. doing field work may participate online. Ask the main assessor (F. Krysiak) for the zoom link.

This course is offered by the MSD.

 

Admission requirements Only for students of the MSD who are already able to present the results of the master's theses. The theses have to be completed at least up to 80% or may have already been submitted prior to the final presentation.

Course application Course enrollment on MOnA should be completed by the beginning of the teaching period (withdrawal possible until Monday of teaching week five).

Exclusively for MSD-students who have to present the results of the MSD master's thesis. No other students admitted.

NOTE: for December 2023, the presenters have to choose the 08.12.23. for the presentations of results. The 15.12.23 is reserved for concept presentations, the 22.12.23 is offered only if needed in case of a high number of presentations.

Assessment format continuous assessment
Assessment details Compulsory attendance on site, in presence. Oral presentation of 10' minutes, followed by questions and a discussion. The presentations are to be uploaded on ADAM by the presenters until Wednesday/noon before Friday of the presentation.

Presenters have to register for a presentation, for details see section "course application".
