| Inhalt | The lecture series Aesthetics from the Margins proposes historical and theoretical inquiries into questions of sense perception, ideation and world-making. By considering different aesthetic forms, media, infrastructures and practices – among them photography, literature, film, or performing arts – we will explore colonial and postcolonial ways of being in and making sense of ‘world(s)’, especially if these are articulated from a perspective of marginality. The lectures will feature invited guests, who will speak to the series’ overall theme. Guest lecturers include: • Erica Carter (King’s College, London) • Christian Crouch (Bard College, NY) • Jane Taylor (UWC, Cape Town) • Brian Larkin (Columbia, NY) • Darren Newbury (University of Brighton) • Henri Michel Yéré (University of Lausanne) |
| Lernziele | Students learn to sum up key points made in a public lecture, to formulate critical questions, and to prepare a respective input for the discussion with the guest lecturer in the Friday seminar |
