| Inhalt | Participants in this practical course train drafting and/or revising a psychology text for publication. The course has a dual focus: participants develop their research writing competence in the process of producing written output. If authors enter the course with a first draft, they revise it so that they should have a submittable manuscript by the end of the semester. If they enter only with data or a concept, they should have a draft by the end of the semester. The course follows the write – review – revise pattern. It supports participants by socializing the writing process: first, through collective text production in a writing group and, second, through regular struc-tured reviews and oral feedback by participants and the lecturer. It also supports participants by stag-ing the writing process over the semester. Participants examine samples and break them down into sections to understand the structures and language of each part. They produce and revise text in manageable sections in manuscript workshops and regular homework writing tasks, applying the in-sights they gain from these analyses to writing their own texts. In addition, participants ensure that the different parts of the text form a sound argument in which theories, questions/hypothesis, methods, data and discussions are brought together in a coherent arch. |
| Lernziele | Competence development: Participants develop their competence to write research for publication. They learn to identify the discourse features of psychology texts and to apply this knowledge in their own writing as well as their reviews of texts by other authors. Product: Participants produce a draft or submittable manuscript consisting of distinctive parts that coalesce into a coherent and cohesive overall structure and whose language is convincing, clear and concise. |

| Bemerkungen | Maximale Anzahl Studierende: 15. The course is aimed at — PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows in psychology who are taking initial steps in publication in English or who wish to further develop their writing competence and — Master students who are writing a thesis or converting a thesis into a publication. Language requirement — Participants must master English at at least level C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference — First-language users of English will also benefit from the course and are welcome. |

| Anmeldung zur Lehrveranstaltung | Die interne Anmeldefrist der Fakultät für Psychologie ist der 19. Januar 2020. Die Anmeldung erfolgt durch das Belegen via MOnA (Start: 1.1.20). Vom 20. Januar bis 2. Februar 2020 nehmen die Dozierenden die Einteilung in die Seminare vor und informieren die Studierenden entsprechend.
