This workshop offers an opportunity to embark on a journey of website creation using the versatile tools of R Markdown and Distill. Designed for PhD students eager to establish their online presence, the workshop is tailored for total beginners in website development. Over the course of two sessions, each lasting approximately 4 hours, participants will be guided through the process of building a personalized website from scratch.

The first session introduces the fundamentals of R Markdown, a powerful tool that seamlessly blends code, text, and output. Participants will learn how to set up their development environment, create their first website structure, and customize its appearance to reflect their unique style.

In the second session, participants will delve deeper into the Distill framework, simplifying the creation of simple, publication-quality websites. Through hands-on exercises, participants will learn to integrate various content types, including text, images, and code chunks, to effectively showcase their research, projects, and achievements. Step-by-step guidance will be provided on deploying the website online, ensuring accessibility to a global audience. Throughout both sessions, ample time will be dedicated to addressing questions and troubleshooting challenges, ensuring a smooth and enriching learning experience for all participants.

This workshop is suitable for individuals with no prior experience in website development. Participants are required to bring their own laptops with R and RStudio installed.
