| Inhalt | This semester course is part of a compulsory one year course (module). It offers an introduction to the study of English Literature and Culture. Details will be announced in the course at the beginning of the semester. |
| Lernziele | The students get into contact with English literature and culture. They are introduced to some basic theoretical tools for the study of literature by concentrating on one genre, and they begin to practise an academic style of writing in short texts. |

"Beginning theory: an introduction to literary and cultural theory". Manchester: Manchester University Press, 2006. Texts must be bought before the beginning of the semester. They are available from the 'Labyrinth' bookshop in Nadelberg 17. |
