| Inhalt | The first part of the lecture covers consumer theory, theory of the firm, and general equilibrium theory. We first discuss different options to describe individual behavior under certainty and then analyze the implications of individual behavior for aggregate demand (aggregation). The theory of the firm will be considered only briefly, with emphasis on different possibilities to describe technological possibilities and producer behavior (duality). Combining consumer theory and the theory of the firm, we consider the questions under which conditions a simultaneous equilibrium on several markets exists and whether such an equilibrium has interesting welfare implications. At the end of the first part we revisit consumer theory to analyze individual behavior under uncertainty. The second part of the course considers strategic behavior. The main tool to analyse strategic behavior is game theory. Consequently, more than half of the lectures in this part of the course will be devoted to a discussion of strategic form games, extensive form games, and the associated solution concepts. In the remaining lectures we consider information economics. |
