Inhalt | Content: In this course, we drop the classical assumption of perfect labour markets and examine the many institutions that affect the behavior of workers and employers in actual, imperfect labor markets. These labour market institutions include, for example, minimum wages, employment protection legislation, unemployment benefits, active labor market policies, family policies, early retirement programs, education and migration policies. We describe these institutions and characterize their effects on the labour market. We also discuss how these institutions are today being changed by political and economic forces. |
Lernziele | The objective of this course is to obtain a deeper understanding of how modern labour markets work as well as the instruments available to policy makers to improve labour market outcomes. |

Teilnahmevoraussetzungen | Prerequisites: Completed Bachelor and basic knowledge of labour economics on the level of the course "Arbeitsmarktökonomie" offered on the Bachelor's level of the University of Basel is required. |
