| Inhalt | Physical derivation of the equations of fluid dynamics. Weak solutions. Existence in two and in three space dimensions. Uniqueness in two space dimensions. Conditions for uniqueness in three space dimensions. Weak-strong uniqueness. The chosen topics will require very few background knowledge (mostly contained in the lectures of Reelle Analysis). Some more "advance" background material will be object of some of the presentations. |
| Lernziele | Learn some introductory topics on mathematical fluid dynamics. Organize a mathematical presentation. |
| Literatur | The main reference will be: Giovanni P. Galdi "An introduction to the Navier-Stokes initial-boundary value problem." Fundamental directions in mathematical fluid mechanics, 1-70, Adv. Math. Fluid Mech., Birkhäuser, Basel, 2000. Further references on background material or on particular aspects will be provided during the seminar. |
| Bemerkungen | A preliminary meeting to discuss the topics of the presentations will be held in the week 10-14 February, 2014. The precise appointment will be announced in due time. |
