Inhalt | Content: The first part of the course, taught by Georg Nöldeke provides an introduction to general equilibrium theory. We begin by reviewing the essentials of consumer theory and the theory of the firm. Combining consumer theory and the theory of the firm, we then introduce the general equilibrium model and consider the questions under which conditions a simultaneous equilibrium on several markets exists and whether such an equilibrium has interesting welfare implications. The first part of the course focuses on static situations without uncertainty. The second part of the course, taught by Conny Wunsch, covers dynamic settings with inter-temporal decisions made over time as well as decision making of consumers and firms under uncertainty. We start by introducing important concepts of decision making under uncertainty. We then discuss inter-temporal decision making and the dynamic programming methodology. We conclude by discussing steady state equilibrium and welfare implications. |
