| Inhalt | "One Hundred Years of Solitude? Colombia between Guerilla and Green Revolution"? The real and the imaginary are part and parcel of Gabriel Garcia Marquez' "One Hundred Years of Solitude". The "magical realism" of Macondo mirrors in many ways Colombia's historical developments. Today, after five decades of armed conflict, peace talks between the Colombian government and the largest guerilla group in Colombia are going on. The seminar will shed light on the dynamics of protracted violent conflict in Colombia, analyse the historical trajectory of its various actors and illustrate its consequences for society and the natural environment. |
| Lernziele | 1) Overview over key developments in Colombia. 2) Insights and critical engagement with an anthropology of war and peace. 3) Actor-oriented conceptualisation of armed conflict and its consequences drawing on case-studies. |
