| Inhalt | Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) is a quantitative technique to visualize the relationships between objects in a graph. This introductory course will give an overview of the main features of MDS including suitable data types, modelling techniques, and approaches to interpret MDS solutions. The course includes theoretical consideration as well as practical applications, using different data sets. Of special interest will be how the different elements relevant for the application of the method such as data collection, data preparation, model features, and techniques of interpretation are interlinked, and how decisions with regard to these relate to the outcome of the analysis. We will be using the statistical software R. |
| Lernziele | The course participants - understand the basic principles of Multidimensional Scaling, - understand the potential and limitations of Multidimensional Scaling and - are able to apply Multidimensional Scaling. |
