Inhalt | Content: The course starts with an introduction to classical job search theory and its predictions for job search behavior and labor market outcomes. Afterwards, we discuss the main criticisms of this theory and continue by discussing alternative behavioral approaches to model job search behavior, how this changes the predictions from theory, and how this compares to actual behavior in reality. |
Lernziele | Learning objectives: The objective of the course is to obtain a profound understanding of the economics of unemployment and how classical views have to be adjusted when behavioural aspects are taken into account. Moreover, students learn to study actual job search behavior of unemployed workers and to contrast it with theory. |
