| Inhalt | The purpose of this seminar is to guide you through the process of planning and completing your bachelor's thesis. For those of you who complete thesis with me would be working on a topic broadly within the realm of sustainability, energy, and climate policies. However, within this broad frame, students will identify his or her own specific research question by him/herself. The first two kick-of meetings (Feb 16 & 17) lay out what kind of issues might be there in the area of sustainability, energy and climate policies. This is why your attendance at these meetings will be extremely important. Identifying an important, relevant and interesting research question requires a tremendous amount of effort, but it is also a very creative and exciting process. I welcome students who are well motivated to engage in this process and those who are generally interested in these topic areas. Generally speaking, it is not easy to learn a new empirical methodology or a new analytical tool as you complete your thesis during the semester. (There are some exceptional cases, thought rare.) This means that you should think about your research question in combination with what you have learned already in terms of analytical tools and empirical methodologies. I would welcome any analytical approaches; one could write a purely game-theoretic paper, or one could run regressions, or one could also engage in systematic qualitative analyses. During your university study, you can learn a lot of things. However, there may not be many opportunities where you can gain deep and thorough knowledge about a single topic. I hope that this thesis seminar offers you such a platform and at the end of the semester you can boast with confidence (and evidence) that you have developed good knowledge on certain issues in sustainability/energy/climate. |
| Bemerkungen | ***The first two kick-off meetings are extremely important for completing your thesis. If you wish to enroll in this BA thesis seminar, please keep in mind these two meetings (February 16th & 17th) as you plan your semester. (1) Kick-off meeting 1 (Lecture on thesis-writing and topics) Thursday Feb 16th, 14.15-16.00. (2) Kick-off meeting 2 (Lecture on thesis-writing and topics) Friday Feb 17th, 14.15-16.00. (3) Individual meetings to finalize your research question. (You will later sign up for a specific time slot via Doodle) Thursday March 2nd Friday March 3rd (4) Individual consultation is welcome as you work on your thesis during this time (By appointment.) (5) Submit the written thesis Tuesday May 9th midnight. (6) Final presentation and discussion. Tuesday May 23rd 8:15-18:00 Wednesday May 24th 8:15-18:00 Full participation mandatory for (1) (2) (3) (5) (6). |

| Teilnahmebedingungen | Admission is only granted to students who are enrolled at our faculty of business and economics, who have already completed their first year (60 credit points) and in addition have gained at least 50 credit points in the “Aufbaustudium”. Highly recommended lecture: 43029 International Political Economy of Energy and Climate Policy Those who completed this lecture will be allocated with a higher priority. |
