| Inhalt | Are people living in cities more likely to vote for parties of the political left? Are people living in countries with higher GDPs happier? Is there a positive relationship between economic development (GDP) and social development (HDI)? Questions like these can be answered using the appropriate data and appropriate statistical techniques. This course gives an overview of bivariate techniques of data analysis (e.g. t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and regression). We will cover suitable data types, parameters, and prerequisites. Of special interest are the interrelations between statistical techniques, data, and research questions. The course includes theoretical considerations as well as practical applications, using different data sets. The knowledge and skills provided will enable students to make informed decisions about the selection and use of bivariate statistical techniques, apply the techniques, interpret the statistical outputs, and present the results in an appropriate manner. |
