| Inhalt | The structure and function of ecosystems arise as a result of both previous and current environmental conditions and their dynamics in both space and time. This lecture series represents an introduction to the ecology and biogeography of Africa. It provides basic information on some of the main ecoregions of Africa, that include the zonal desert, Sahel and semi-arid ecoregions, savannas, including a brief introduction to Hominid development, rainforests and mangroves. The lecture series also focuses on key flora and fauna and adaptive strategies within each respective ecosystem, before finally looking at drivers of land degradation and environmental change.
