| Inhalt | Part I: In this part, we look at different conceptualizations of the roles of, and relationships between, society and business, and their implications for sustainable development. We will map different theoretical approaches from sociology (e.g. Marx & Engels, Parsons) and economics (e.g. Friedman, Keynes), and relate these to research findings from South Africa, China, India, and Switzerland. Part II: In this part, we widen the scope and explore the roles of, and interplay between, society and business with a focus on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. More specifically, we discuss the opportunities, problems, and dilemmas of societal and business interventions, using specific examples. |
| Lernziele | Students - know different perspectives on the roles of and interplay between business and society - are familiar with the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2010) - understand the problems and opportunities of different perspectives on the relationships between business and society in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals - understand that the role business and society play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the organization of their cooperation differ across contexts and cultures |
