Inhalt | This online seminar series will explore the complex interplay between the depiction of victory and defeat, vanquishing and being vanquished, in historical narratives of collective violence from the ancient Near East and ancient Mediterranean. International scholars will lead the weekly 60-minute sessions, presenting a wide range of case studies that illustrate the diverse strategies by which battles, revolts, and other episodes of collective violence were memorialized in antiquity, and the ideological, religious, and political interests that shaped their commemoration.
