11569-01 - Vorlesung: African Ecology (Biogeographie und Naturschutz) 2 KP

Semester Herbstsemester 2007
Angebotsmuster Jedes Herbstsemester
Dozierende Simon Paul Loader (simon.loader@unibas.ch)
Peter Nagel (peter.nagel@unibas.ch, BeurteilerIn)
Inhalt This lecture is an introduction to the ecology and biogeography of Africa. It provides basic information on the main ecoregions such as the zonal desert, savanna or rain forest and the extra-zonal mangrove or mountain ecosystems as well as freshwater ecosystems. Their structure and function is a result of both the current environmental conditions and their dynamics in space and time. The lecture informs on the main ecological factors, vegetation and fauna, and land use and human impact on the environment.
