| Inhalt | When processing language, humans have to solve a number of complex tasks in very short time: in order to understand what others say they have to recognize word boundaries and to analyze the structure and meaning of the incoming sound stream. Correspondingly, they have to encode their thoughts grammatically and phonetically within a split second when producing language. In this seminar we will look at these processes in more detail and in addition focus on the interrelationship between empirical studies on language processing and theories of language and/or the mind. |
| Lernziele | Students will gain solid knowledge in current day insights on how our mind works when processing language. They will learn to make the link between theories and data (how to formulate hypotheses and derive predictions, how to interprete data in light of these predictions. |
