| Inhalt | Corruption scandals flare up in all societies, and especially so in developing countries. Building on the theories discussed in the course "The sociology of corruption" (autumn term 2008), "Corruption as a way of life" seeks to analyse specific corruption cases. The cases selected will highlight the currently most burning issues of corruption and development, ranging from grand corruption in the oil, gas and mining sector to corruption in humanitarian aid, putting particular emphasis on international and sectoral interlinkages. |
| Lernziele | The objectives of this seminar are a) to collect key information on selected corruption cases; b) to apply relevant theories of corruption to the case studies and c) to develop a differentiated understanding of sectoral, national and international structures and agents of corruption. |
