| Inhalt | We have entered a phase in social and economic development that goes beyond social change. It can be best described as forms of social and economic transitions. Two factors relating to social transitions are globalization and the emergence of developing countries, such as South Africa, China and India. These and other countries are often grouped together (e.g. BRICS or MINT countries) to study important drivers of the global economy and its significant influence on development. In this seminar, we explore the interdependence and conflicts between economic and social development from a national and global perspective, with a specific focus on South Africa, India, and China. Students will work on a specific country and topic according to their interests. Examples include “The Expansion of Higher Education in India and its Impact on the Global Labor Market” or “China in Africa: The Chinese Perspectives on Development”. |
