| Inhalt | Migration has become a central theme in sociolinguistics. Language is at the nexus between migration aspirations, constraints, capabilities and mechanisms or infrastructures of control. This seminar examines how language facilitates and is shaped by migration. What does it mean to live a life in a new language? What are the different kinds of migration and how do the languages of different migrants travel? Why are languages not equally mobile? |
| Lernziele | Students will: 1. Engage with the different orientations in the study of both language and migration and how these are changing in the context of current scholarship geopolitical developments 2. Develop an in-depth understanding of individual and/or communal experiences of migration through the lens of language |
| Literatur | Relevant literature will be made available in ADAM and on the Reserve shelf of the English Seminar. |

| Teilnahmebedingungen | This seminar is for BA students in English. BA students need to have reached the advanced level: for BA05 students those who have completed their proseminar paper in linguistics; for BA13 students those who have completed all three introductory modules and the proseminar papers. |
