| Inhalt | What is fiction ? Since the Antiquity, the concept has both played a key role in the definition of literature and fueled contradictory debates as to its very meaning, so that « fiction » is a notion that plays a key part in the discussion and analysis of virtually every major genres (be it as a core component of the novel, as a quality allowing for the distinction between fiction and non fiction / reality and fancy, or even as an alternative name for the literary/poetic craft – if one follows its rich Latine etymology, that links the word to the verb « fingo », to form, to create). In recent years, the notion has received renewed theoretical attention, while gaining unexpected political actuality (think « fake news »). Within the Kolloqium, we will (1) read selected theoretical texts that cast various insights on the concept, (2) use the notion as a common theme to discuss each participant’s ongoing research. |
