| Inhalt | This course introduces the concepts of economic analysis of law. We'll start with Ronald Coase's Nobel Prize winning work on the problem of social cost, and move on to consider how economic models can aid in the understanding and evaluation of legal rules in areas such as accident law, land use regulation, product safety, criminal law, and company law. The course will focus on the analysis of decided legal cases. Student participation is strongly emphasized. |
| Lernziele | Students should take away an enhanced understanding of ex ante reasoning, the concept of social welfare, the effect of incentives on behavior, and the potential as well as the limitations of courts as instruments for facilitating efficient social organization. |
