| Inhalt | This course will consider the basic nature of the banking firm. We will discuss why banks are different from other firms and identify the problems of liquidity and solvency as the causes of instability in financial markets. We'll examine legal strategies for mitigating this instability, including the Basel Committee's approach to capital and liquidity. We'll take a look at the the subprime mortgage disaster and the financial crisis of 2008-2009, and will consider whether an event of this magnitude can happen again. |
| Lernziele | Students should take away an enhanced understanding of what is fundamental about banks and a basic grasp of how capital and liquidity are regulated in financial markets around the world. |
