Inhalt | This course is dedicated to reading and analyzing a selection of theoretical texts. These will be discussed with regard to the literary material dealt with in the first semester. |
Lernziele | Students will engage with and learn how to read theoretical texts, placing literary texts in the context of literary theories, and gaining knowledge of how to compare different theoretical arguments in order to develop arguments of their own. It is recommended to also attend one of the two accompanying tutorials (43647) on offer, in which the complex theoretical texts introduced in this proseminar will be discussed in more depth. |
Literatur | All texts will be made available on ADAM. Note that Jonathan Culler's "What is Theory?" must be read for the first meeting. |
Bemerkungen | This is primarily a methodological course; emphasis is put on the skills necessary for dealing with theoretical texts. |
