| Inhalt | Content: The course familiarizes students with various topics of modern industrial organization. We analyze the role of imperfectly competitive markets for firms' strategic decisions on, for example, product differentiation, advertising and price discrimination. We also examine the firms' responses to changes in the market environment. Main analytical tools will be microeconomic theory and game theory. |
| Lernziele | -Understand and explain the workings and implications of the theoretical IO models. -Connect the theoretical insights with practical applications. -Analyze effects of government policy on competition outcomes. -Understand and explain how assumptions relate to conclusions in IO theory. |

| Hinweise zur Leistungsüberprüfung | Grading is based on a written final exam (60%) and two homeworks (20%). homework 1: 20%, homework 2: 20%. written exam / 60%: written exam: 10.12.19; 10:15-11:15. WWZ S15: A-Mei; WWZ S13: MES-Z. You can still withdraw from the examination by submitting a completed, signed form to our office from 15.10.19 until 25.10.19 / 12:00 o’clock. Withdrawals sent by email will not be accepted. You will find the examination withdrawal form on the Homepage of the Student Dean’s Office. Prior to 14.10.19, please only use MONA for withdrawing. The exam rooms will be published up to 08.12.19. |
