| Inhalt | James Joyce (1882-1942), Franz Kafka (1883-1924), and Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) not only wrote some of the most groundbreaking novels of the early 20th century but also all wrote fascinating shorter fiction. This course will look at the latter. In Joyce's case, this means his 1914 story collection "Dubliners". With Kafka and Woolf, we will look at the stories they published during their lifetimes. In Kafka's case, there is a specific book that collects the "Drucke zu Lebzeiten"; in Woolf's case, we will read the 18 stories she published herself that appear in the edition of her "complete shorter fiction" (a list of those stories will be provided). |
