| Inhalt | The course will be organized around three questions: 1. Personal ethical performance: What do we owe morally to one another in business? 2. Leading ethical performance: What is required to incline a group of people to play by the rules and act with integrity? 3. Leading social performance: What do organizations owe to the people and places they impact? In answering these questions, a large body of knowledge will be brought to bear: from the normative tradition of philosophical ethics to literatures in several sciences. |
| Lernziele | This course will examine the ethical and social dimensions of business. Realistic outcomes include the following: 1. The ability to evaluate the ethical performance of an organization and the effectiveness of its leaders. 2. Ideas you can employ now, in anticipation of the time when your leadership ability becomes just as important as your technical skills. 3. A more discriminating consumer of ideas on leadership, business ethics, and corporate social responsibility. |
| Literatur | See syllabus (on ADAM). A course pack of HBS cases is being developed. The cost should be between $25 and $50. |

| Hinweise zur Leistungsüberprüfung | Students will be evaluated on their participation during live sessions. Evaluation will also include responses to surveys, two written assignments, one as member of a small team and one individual. The breakdown is anticipated to be as follows: 15% attendance, preparation, participation, and conduct 15% surveys 35% self-improvement memorandum 35% principled leadership case analysis |
