36485-01 - Proseminar: Introduction II: Literary Theory 3 KP

Semester Frühjahrsemester 2021
Angebotsmuster Jedes Frühjahrsem.
Dozierende Sarah Busch (sarah.busch@unibas.ch)
Inhalt This course is dedicated to reading and analyzing a selection of theoretical texts. These will be discussed with regard to the literary material dealt with in the first semester. The course also includes a second library and database tutorial that follows on from the tutorial students attended in the fall term.
Lernziele Students will engage with and learn how to read theoretical texts, placing literary texts in the context of literary theories, and gaining knowledge of how to compare different theoretical arguments in order to develop arguments of their own.
Literatur All texts will be made available on ADAM. Note that Jonathan Culler's "What is Theory?" must be read for the first meeting.
Bemerkungen This is primarily a methodological course; emphasis is put on the skills necessary for dealing with theoretical texts.

Teilnahmebedingungen It is strongly recommended that this course is taken only after successful completion of the Proseminar "Introduction I: Literary Studies" (35016).
Anmeldung zur Lehrveranstaltung Please enroll in your preferred section via doodle: make sure you write your full name (first & last name) to avoid confusion, though you will also be asked to input your email address. As places are limited for each section, students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to secure their preferred time slot. Note: Once a section is fully booked, you will need to sign up for one of the alternative sections. Please also note that the attendance list for the section will be based on the Doodle (and not MOnA). Doodle registration opens on January 11, 2021.

Please only register for ONE of the parallel sections: Students registered to more than one section will be allocated to one of the sections by the instructors the week before the course begins.
