| Inhalt | In the European context, for the EU and the other European countries, flight and migration are currently one of the major challenges. The aim of the seminar is, starting with a historical perspective, to research the migration process in its various variants. The following topics should be dealt with: 1. European history of migrations. - Migration – an introduction. - Migration movements in the 19th century. - Flight and emigration in the first half of the 20th century. - Labour migration from southern to northern Europe – the guest worker phenomenon. - Post-colonial migrations. 2. Flight and migration in the present - Flight and asylum in the present as a challenge for Europe. - Current labour migrations from third countries to the EU. - Economically motivated internal migrations after the enlargement of the EU. - The mobility of the highly qualified. - Age migration from northern to southern Europe. 3. Migration as a challenge for the EU - The Arab Spring and the Legacy of the Colonies. - EU policies. - Migration and displacement as the touchstone of European cohesion. - Frontex and the external borders. |

Wer im Rahmen von Auslandaufenthalten und von Austauschprogrammen in Basel studiert wird unabhängig vom Listenplatz immer aufgenommen. |
