| Inhalt | Although Artificial Intelligence always appears to sit on the cutting edge of software development, it is as old as the computer itself. Long before Deep Blue, AlphaGo, or GPT-3 were reality, philosophers have thought about the possibility (and impossibility) of AI. This seminar investigates theories of AI from 1950 up to the present and sheds light on some central issues such as consciousness, learning, and creativity. The seminar is conducted in English; readings will be in English and German. |
| Lernziele | By the end of the seminar, students will have a firm grasp on the history of AI as a philosophical topic; they will be able to master complex theoretical texts in English; and will be able to transfer what they have learned onto current issues. |
