| Inhalt | Western economies experienced permanent economic growth over the course of the twentieth century. A set of stylized empirical facts on economic indicators, like growth rate, saving rates or income shares characterizes these economies. This lecture series introduces economic models that aim to explain these empirical facts. The lecture starts with a simple model with exogenous saving rates. Then, we step-wise introduce endogenous savings and discuss the role of different production technologies. In the discussion of the assumptions and mechanisms that are required to fit the empirical facts, we will quantify the theoretical frameworks. |
